Mar. 15th, 2003 01:01 pmAfter much careful thought and consideration, I have come to the following conclusion:
Leaf blowers, along with telephones, are the invention of the devil.
They make much noise and stench, and for what? Doing a job that can be done with a rake. A little faster, yes, but I don't think that's necessarily a good thing. Raking gives one much time to ponder. For instance: Why is January the first month of the year, when March is so clearly superior? Why can depressing music sometimes fit good moods? Why won't Dad shut that bloody stupid leaf blower off?
The last was never answered. I can only hypothesize that maybe not everyone enjoys raking as much as I do.
I was in an extraordinarily good mood. Mom said I was glowing, which meant I was either very happy, or crazy. I went with crazy. Of course, I was grinning the whole time. There's something about raking that's a whole lot of fun. It's pointless, of course; there are just going to be more leaves later to rake. It's like cleaning your room, or making your bed--they're going to get more messy again anyways. But with raking, you get to spend time outside, and it's obvious what you're getting done. I might do more raking later, and I'll get paid for that. Bonus...
