Ah, Easter. The flowers, the rabbits, the colorful eggs. The smell of chocolate, and the greed of small children searching for it. It took me a while to realize that Easter had any significance past chocolate. I may have known that it was about some guy not being dead anymore, but that sort of thing pales in comparison to a solid chocolate rabbit when one is eight. Even now, it's more about finding the plastic eggs that Mom, sorry, the Easter Bunny, has hidden than it is about Jesus. And even that is more for Mom than it is for us; I think she can't come to terms with the fact that her babies aren't so much babies any more. We didn't do egg hunting this year for assorted reasons, but she said that she's going to hide them next year. I'll be 17 years old. I don't want to search for jellybean-filled eggs.

Maybe that's why the Easter season just hasn't really sunk in. I'm a little to old for excessive pastels and Easter baskets, but I can't really get my head around Resurrection.
