Dec. 28th, 2004 12:38 pmThere's a Burmese refugee at our house right now. Our church sponsored some refugees--got them set up with an apartment, English classes, furniture &c--so we're taking Aung for a day. I just feel sorry for him; he speaks almost no English, so he doesn't really get what's going on. The woman who's kind of their advocate wanted him to get to see kids his own age, ie teenagers, so different families are taking him for days during break. Not sure how I would feel about that--would be nice to get out, but not knowing where I was going, or the people who were taking me there? Not so much. At least at home I would be able to speak the language that I actually knew how to speak.
What I should actually be doing is writing my college essays. I am not. This is problematic.
