Jul. 20th, 2003 06:26 pmBack from Smith Mountain Lake, where we took Dad for his birthday. He turned 50 on Friday, so Mom felt the need to do something special. And something special we did, surprising him at work, then taking him to a nice bed-and-formerly-breakfast. I intended to get something done, as I still need to finish my summer reading, but I didn't get around to it. After all, there was a rented jet ski to play with. I think Dad had the most fun with it. And we went out for dinner both nights, once to a nice place where I waged war on a plate of crab legs, and once to a little cafe called Moosie's that had a massive moose sculpture out front.
There were, however, bits that I did not have fun with, almost all of which involving sunburn. Overall, though, it was a success as a weekend of R and R. Oh, and I got to use "fie" in a game of Scrabble. Doesn't get any better than that.
