Aug. 26th, 2003 10:31 pmWent out to look at Mars--the closest it has been to Earth in 60,000 years was at 10:00 this evening. It was just a little bright spot, even with binoculars. I kind of wish wish we had a telescope. Left me wondering why, exactly, people like to look at this stuff. It was very cool, but isn't the ultimate torture to show someone exactly how they rank on the grand scheme of things? Mars stared at me and said, "you think you're important and significant? No. No, you're not. You're very small. I'm smaller than a pencil eraser to you. To me, you're not even on the map."
